Brief Biography
Educated at the Dublin Institute of Technology, graduated with a BSc in Physics and Chemistry in 1991. Spent four years as a postgraduate student in DIT’s School of Physics, obtaining PhD from Trinity College, Dublin in 1995.
During PhD studies worked for six months at the University of Liege in Belgium.
Joined DIT as a postdoctoral researcher in 1996 and took up current position as manager of the Centre for Industrial and Engineering Optics in March 1998.

Research Interests
Resear
ch interests are primarily in holographic recording materials (recording processes, diffusion through polymer, holographic characterisation) and interferometric techniques for surface metrology (ESPI, white light interferometry, holographic intereferometry). Doctoral research work involved the optimisation and characterisation of a new polymeric holographic recording material for use in holographic interferometry and the manufacture of holographic optical elements.
